Travis Denning banks $2,500 Craig Bouc Memorial at Spoon River
Travis Denning kicked off his Labor Day weekend on Saturday afternoon with a trip to Spoon River Speedway in Canton, Illinois for the Craig Bouc Memorial.
With 28 cars on hand, the field was split into two groups for time trials. Denning topped his group and followed it up with a heat race win. Starting third in the $2,500-to-win feature, he quickly moved to the front and never looked back, soaring to his fourth victory of the season. He finished ahead of runner-up Colby Sheppard, with Tommy Elston rounding out the podium in third.
Extending his weekend into Monday, Denning headed to Boone Speedway in Iowa for the Late Model portion of the 43rd annual IMCA Super Nationals. After drawing a tough pill, Denning advanced two spots in his heat to finish eighth, then passed three more cars in the consolation race to finish sixth.
Starting 24th in the $3,000-to-win main event, Denning proved to be a contender—cracking the top 10 by lap 8 and breaking into the top five by lap 29. Unfortunately, engine issues ended his night early on lap 40 of the 50-lap feature.
